A passage from the Roman route of Ehl, the site of Kogenheim was occupied very early, as evidenced by the numerous vestiges, including Gallic, found on the ground. A former stronghold of the bishop of Strasbourg, and then of the family of Ribeaupierre, the village began in 1674 from an armed group ready to defend its lands and villagers, in accordance with the will of Louis XIV. Still in symbolic form today in the form of a brotherhood, this group bears the name of Very Holy Sacrament. The village church has two altars, one of which is one-poster. Its design dates back to the reconstruction in 1736 of the building in an rococo style.
