The origin of the name of the commune is twofold: Fraissinet from the Latin frax(i)num (ash tree) and Fourque from the Occitan forc which means fork, crossroads. If its population peaked in 1800, with more than 900 inhabitants, today there are less than a hundred living there. In the heart of the village, you will see the Saints-Pierre-et-Paul church. But the village is above all a starting point for hiking. Nearby, you will find the Chaos of Nîmes-le-Vieux, a site that allows you to walk while discovering natural curiosities and the beauty of the Causses
