At the foot of the Cévennes Corniche, not far from the Borgne valley and on the edge of the Cévennes National Park, Saint-Jean-du-Gard is a lovely stopover for anyone wishing to discover the Cévennes: nestled at the bottom of the valley, the village keeps traces of a turbulent past. The old 17th century bridge bears the marks of the fury of the waves, the Clock Tower (13th century) of that of men. Today, the village is a stronghold for hikers, who redo the Stevenson route(Travel with a donkey), it attracts lovers of river bathing or Occitan culture for its famous whales, the popular balls that enliven the summer evenings
