Surrounded by 3,800 hectares of garrigue and forest bordering the Cèze valley, Méjannes-le-Clap was the former glassmaking capital of the Gard until the 18th century. Today, you'll find farmhouses that were once glassworks. Struck by the rural exodus, the village had only two families left by 1970. A pioneer of green tourism, it has taken advantage of its natural environment to create sports facilities and tourist accommodation. A successful gamble: today, the town welcomes over 5,000 visitors a year, and its population has made a significant demographic leap. Méjannes-le-Clap is now an ideal vacation destination for families.
