The name of Pondaurat, Doré Bridge, would probably come from the color of the building stones of its bridge over the Bassanne, stone limestone. A city that owes a great deal of its creation to the foundation at the end of the th century of a center by the monks of the République on the route of the Limousine pilgrimage. Today, one can always admire the four main buildings in the centre of the village: a mill on the Bassane and the old Couvent convent built in the th century, the Gothic church - th and th centuries - as a Greek cross and the th century péager bridge, not forgetting a monumental cross of road near the bridge.
