The village has been occupied since prehistoric times, but it wasn't until the 11th century that it was mentioned as Sanctus Sulpicius, i.e. Saint Sulpice/Soupplets, a well-known figure in the region for having built numerous churches and monasteries. The13th-century Saint-Leu chapel remains from this era, and in 2022 it was awarded a departmental prize for communes preserving their heritage ("rubans du patrimoine"). The village is also part of the 1914 Battle of the Marne circuit, which the Meaux Tourist Office now offers several itineraries to follow on foot, by bike or by car.
