Excavations have unearthed remains that attest to human occupation of the site since the Paleolithic period, which benefited from the proximity of the Via Agrippa in Roman times. Like the other villages in the area, Pécy had a castle built on a castle mound in the early Middle Ages. Its marshy lands were cleaned up, cleared and exploited by the monks. The peasant villagers performed the agricultural work. Until 1285, the village was located in a "march separante" within which the inhabitants depended on the powerful Count of Champagne and the King, each having his rights of justice. And like the other villages of Val Briard, Pécy was subject to greed, purchase, buyouts and alliance between lords.Today Pécy is a pleasant commune with a population of just over 800. It is in this commune, in the immediate vicinity of the village, that the estate of the Château de Beaulieu is located. In 1135, the fief of Beaulieu depended on the Abbey of Rebais following a donation granted or confirmed by Pope Innocent II. Jean de Beaulieu, father of Cardinal Simon de Beaulieu, was born in Château de Beaulieu in the early 13th century. Today, the castle is available for rent for private events. The farm outbuildings of the castle are home to La Fromentellerie, a farm that produces cow's milk and organic meat for direct sale. The Courpalay bakery's van offers door-to-door bread delivery to the village of Pécy every day, except on Wednesdays, when it is closed. There is also a pizza truck in front of the town hall on Thursday evening. You can get information at the town hall to discover a network of communal paths, in the middle of nature: you can discover the surroundings of the town and its hamlets by the cross paths.
