Donnemarie has a history spanning 11 centuries. Clovis, Dagobert and Charlemagne are credited with its creation. The town is entered through the Porte de la Maladrerie to the north and the Porte de Provins to the south, remnants of the ancient ramparts. The town is made up of 2 villages, Donnemarie-en-Montois and Dontilly, which came together in 1967. Once fortified, Donnemarie is home to an exceptional parish complex comprising the church of Notre-Dame de la Nativité and the enclosure of the former cemetery, surrounded by a cloister housing the medieval garden. In Dontilly, you can admire the Preuilly abbey and Saint-Pierre church from the outside. There are also numerous wells, mills and wash-houses.
