Annet-sur-Marne boasts a history that goes back to prehistoric times, with remains found here and there. But it wasn't until 1060 that its existence was mentioned, when the abbey of Saint-Martin-des-Champs in Paris took possession of land there. Until the end of the twentieth century, agriculture and subsoil mining were the main activities. The Île de Loisirs de Jablines-Annet was established on former sand quarries. A number of monuments remain from the past, including the 18th-19th-century châteaux of Etry and Sannois. Annet was also the location for scenes from the film Casque d'Or starring Simone Signoret!
