A small village in the Jura of less than 300 souls, Pagnoz was the seat of a typical diocesan fortress, destroyed by Louis XIV: The castle of Vaulgrenant, whose remains can still be seen. His Saint-Michel Chapel and his former lavoir are part of the other testimonies of the past of the commune between Cookie and Chapelle-sur-Furious.
