It is here that the Hérisson finishes its series of cascades before calming down to feed two small lakes with marshy banks. The commune comprises the main village and three hamlets: La Fruitière, on the plateau halfway up the waterfalls, and Val-Dessus and Val-Dessous at the bottom of the valley. Near the town hall, the village of Ménétrux is home to a number of 16th-century houses and a 17th-century chapel with a "lava" roof. On the road to Ilay (D39), you'll find a belvedere that's highly prized for its bird's-eye view of the Éventail waterfall, the largest of the Hérisson cascades. Fascinating!
