Located in the centre of the Hautes-Combes area, the village of Les Moussières is a small holiday resort, both in summer and winter. It houses a few shops and craft businesses. It was originally a place of temporary housing: shepherds had built there, in pastures cleared from a mossy peat bog, wooden huts. Later, stone houses replaced them. Unlike most of the communes in the Hautes-Combes, the village of Les Moussières is a grouped settlement: it stretches along a main road. In winter, skiers can find the start of long cross-country and downhill ski trails.
