Offering a panorama of superb rocky or wooded reliefs on either side of the Gravona valley, the village of Tavera reveals its long history to the traveller through its ancient houses built of fine stone, the ruins of the feudal tower near the Gravona, and its ancient, enlarged and remodelled church of Santa Maria. The Licceto mill is also nearby. A menhir statue, nicknamed "the man with the hairnet" because of the burin marks left on his face, was found in Tavera in 1961, and bears witness to the presence of the Torréens in the area. A so-called "miraculous" spring, the Funtana Santa, can be found nearby.
