Located near the Media Center and just two steps away from a beautiful oceanic walk, these museums are a pretty stop. If you arrive from the city, you need to take your car! Located at the entrance to the public garden, this museum is located in the Dupuy hotel of Angeac, built around 1838. It also houses works from the th and th centuries, from Mannerism to Fauvism and Contemporary Art, or charentais artists. His collection of paintings from schools in the North testifies to the fruitful relationship between the city and the Netherlands which, let us remember, originated in the invention of cognac! The collection of decorative art objects, mainly in Art Nouveau style, is remarkable because it consists of the glass pieces of Emile Gallé, Daum, Jean Lalique. In a typical eighteenth and nineteenth centuries house, the Gabarriers house presents an exhibition depicting the history of the Charente River, as well as the men of the river, as well as the timber trades, including the production of the templates with the display of ancient tools of calcareous carpenters and ship models sailing on the Charente. A whole program for a global vision, narrated in a playful way to easily grasp all aspects of life around the river and to keep alive the memories of Saint Simon's elders. This small museum - opened in 1998 - is located in the small village of Archingeay. Installed in the old school of the village, it allows a dive in the beginning of the ^XXth century. The scenes evoke the daily life of a housewife: enamelled coffee pots, cake moulds, scales, as well as curiosities, toys, fashion... The visit is both amusing and moving! Not to be missed after the tour: a magnificent collection of boxes (1880-1930).

Gujan-Mestras produces every year 50 % of the oysters of the Basin. Located on the port of Larros, the Maison de l'huître was created by oyster farmers to make their profession known and to promote the Basin; an important breeding centre for oysters. The visit (1h) is divided into three stages: a film (English/Spanish/German) on the work of the oyster today, a guided tour of the different rooms (work of the oyster farmer, breeding techniques and history of the oyster through the centuries) and the discovery of the outdoor route (Port de Larros).
