STUDY CENTER - MUSÉE EDMOND MICHELET
Study center of Brive-la-Gaillarde, with original documents, objects of daily life and paintings
The Centre d'études installed in Edmond Michelet's house, with its museum, library and documentation service specialising in the Second World War (more than 6,000 books, newspapers and magazines, a video library), its archive service (Edmond Michelet and Etienne Borne collections, former members of the Resistance, personalities, photo library) and its exhibitions, contributes to knowledge of the Second World War period. Several themes have been chosen to evoke this period, notably the Resistance, the Deportation, life under the Occupation, Human Rights and of course Edmond Michelet. Original documents, in particular photographs, newspapers of the period, posters as well as everyday objects and paintings illustrate the subject. An educational service is available to teachers. The Association of the Edmond Michelet Brotherhood, whose headquarters are at the Centre, organises a colloquium every year on different social issues.
