From watermelons to suntan spray, everything is organic: vegetables, fruit, dairy products, cheeses, groceries, wines, cosmetics, dietary supplements and more. The foie gras house of Domme is one of the oldest stores in the Sarladais. It has remained in its 1960's decoration, when it was created by the Castant couple, which gives it a certain charm. It is a grocery store specialized in the products of Périgord: specialities of foie gras to be spread and pâtés with pieces, soups, cooked dishes, truffles, mushrooms, sweetnesses, aperitifs and digestives and of course wine. The wines on offer come either from family vineyards, or from Julien de Savignac's own winegrowers, or from partner vineyards in the region, of course. For example, Château Thénac, Château Briand-Bergerac, Domaine des Costes and many other vintages can be found in the various wine shops of the brand, which is well established in the Dordogne (Périgueux, Sarlat-la-Canéda, Brantôme).

Located in the heart of Sarlat, the store sells alcohols made in the old Lapouge Distillery in Madrazes, founded in 1860, which later became Distillerie du Périgord. Land made of heavy clays on tuffs limestone, a high altitude for the region, gives very special wines. The Belle Filles castle is one of the first signatories of territorial contracts of farms (ETC) which bind it to the state, on environmental measures. François de Conti, at the same time, started to produce yellow label chicken. Hog blended with grape marc gives a balanced compost that the vine grower leaves in the vine, engazonnée in alfalfa. This mode of rational cultivation is not practised in France, but the results are very much praised. François de Conti has arranged guest rooms and offers a session of organic viticulture for one morning (150 € per room).

CASTLE GRAND GALLIUS

1 review

The estate was founded in 1968 by Fernand Bernard, the vineyard is then composed only 2 ha. His son Alain and his companion Marie-France then take over and will continue to change this heritage to do what he is today. The vineyards are now spread over 16 ha and the construction of the grand chai, next to the family house, has been in place since 2000. It is now the second daughter, Sandrine, who deals with the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot wines. The idea of associating the best wines of the estate with a Roman empress, in tribute to the Latin origin of the rural establishment, is to be welcomed. In addition to the excellent Grand Gallius 2004 and 2006, you will also be able to discover the ferries of the Empress Julia (2007), Faustine, Orbianne (these latter 2008) and Galéria Valéria (2009). The estate also produces an interesting Bordeaux glaze a red medoc, rich and elegant in mouth. You can choose from bottles, magnets and bag in box. And if you want to know more about this wine, Sandrine and Marie France welcome you on the property to share their passion, taste and make you appreciate the pleasure of good wine. Further proof of the quality of wines: In 2017, the estate presented three wines to the International Challenge of Wine… and won three gold medals!

The property of the Jonck family (of South African origin), acquired in 1994, is now spread over 22 hectares of vineyards. It is located on the right bank of the estuary. Just at the junction of the Côtes de Blaye and the Côtes de Bourg, Château d 'Espérance AOC wines are the perfect meeting between the wines of Bourg and Blaye wines. Johannes Jonck is the manager of the Château l 'Espérance with his 2 brothers. They are not from the world of wine but, passionate, they have been able to develop a very beautiful wine. A name predestined for a castle, and a motto for the Jonck family: ' Because every encounter is not just the fruit of chance '. And, for proof, many gold and silver medals and rewards crowned their participation in the largest international competitions. It is therefore with great pride that the Jonck family opens the doors of the castle and organizes visits (cuvier, chais), where Annie and Denis Beurier welcome you and enjoy a little history, know-how, to finish in apotheosis with a tasting to make you discover the precious bottles: Château l 'Espérance, Cuvée of the Three Brothers, the Cedars, Instinct (Sauvignon white).

The opinion of the oenologists.

Hope 2012 - Blaye, Bordeaux coast: Very nice garat dress with dark reflections. Exotic nose, vanilla notes, toast, oriental spices, anis, mint and spices. The mouth is fresh and acidulous, with silky tannins on fresh fruit notes. This wine has a fine balance and a final finale.

Cuvée of the Three Brothers 2010 - Blaye, Bordeaux coast: Dark ruby color dress with slight tuber reflections. A stylish and elegant nose comes first to follow up on toasted notes, ripe fruit, prune and menthol. A rich, wide and velvety mouth emerges on fine and melted tannins. Nice final finish. The structure of this wine is very elegant.

Philippe regularly organizes "discovery and tasting" workshops to introduce you to new products, as well as food and wine pairings.
