A welcome alternative to the eternal midday panino, Cristina Perino's bistro-drugstore has been attracting new customers since it opened in 2010. In this small, pastel-toned shop, crates of fruit and vegetables are stacked to one side, without taking away from the stools and nooks where you can sit down. Enjoy home-cooked dishes such as lasagne au pistou, roast pork with sautéed potatoes, asparagus risotto, and why not try a slice of fruit tart? Price by weight.

Always crowded, the Bologna has long attracted a local clientele that goes there for traditional Bolognese dishes in a beautiful setting. It's not a local restaurant, but the ingredients are tasty, the portions are plentiful and it's one of the only places in the center of Varese where you can eat well and for a reasonable price. As far as accommodation is concerned, it is a little more impersonal. However, the hotel's rooms can be used for one or two nights.

This superb restaurant is run by the Ramella family, who have been in the business since 1946. It offers local specialties prepared and served with great care. It's a great opportunity to taste genuine Piedmontese cuisine. The setting is truly magnificent, and the tables stand out with their pretty crockery and silverware... Hats off to Marcello Trentini! This young chef is the first Turinese to have been awarded the Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe, a recognition followed by the award of a Michelin star. And for good reason: his restaurant in the Courtyard of San Maurizio has become one of the city's must-see gastronomic stops. Warm rabbit salad with hazelnuts, steak tartare with oysters, bouillabaisse, duck à la Marengo... If the portions of these delicious dishes are rather small, the prices are still far from the unaffordable prices of the starred tables. To be tried without delay.

A fine family-run restaurant created by a brother and his two sisters, offering fine local Biel cuisine with a twist. It is affiliated with the Slow Food movement, which favors short circuits. The zucchini flowers served with a parmesan crème brûlée are well worth the detour! The meat is very well cooked. Good wines too. At the back of the restaurant, you can admire the old ovens covered with ^18th-century earthenware tiles. Trendy, uncluttered decor, meticulous presentation and service, and a terrace under the arcades when the weather's mild.

A friendly restaurant-pizzeria in the town center. Its strong point is certainly the beauty of its large ^17th-century brick vaults inside, but in season, the terrace is also very pleasant! The pizza menu is certainly well-stocked and appetizing, but it would be a shame not to try one of the meat dishes or the primi ( risottis , for example), typical of the region, which are well worth a taste. The restaurant of the Ghedina lake is located in a fairy-tale place, which we advise you to reach on foot, through mountains and forests (see " Stroll > Ghedina lake). The main attraction of this place is the lakeside chalet, with its amazing blue-green colours in summer. A la carte, specialities of grilled meats (the most prestigious) on hot stone. On sunny days, a terrace also allows you to take a moment to relax and prolong your lunch and enjoy the magic of the panorama on the lake.

It's probably the best glacier in Valsesia! Frigidarium has been serving ice creams and sorbets to tourists and regulars since 1949. A slightly retro decor, delicious fragrances (which evolve according to the seasonality of the products, like blueberry, melon or fig in summer) and a good atmosphere. You can even go there to have a drink, a creamy homemade hot chocolate or a coffee and croissant in the morning. You can also buy sweets of all kinds (chocolates, meringues, pies, cakes...).

A large, modern, well-lit space serving a wide selection of pizzas, pastas and risotti, as well as salads, burgers and more elaborate dishes featuring Piedmontese and Ligurian specialties. An impressive choice of wines, mainly from northern Italy, but also beers. It's a bit like Cuneo's cantina, with everyone gathering here for lunch or dinner, but the service is fast and the atmosphere very good. Prices are very reasonable for this quality of cuisine. The only slight negative: it's noisy...

One of the city's historic restaurants, Baracca offers typical Biella dishes in a simple, familiar setting, where yellow dominates. The dishes on offer change according to the day and the season, but certain classics are always on the menu, such as the risotto, which is a must, but also the bagna cauda, or the braised beef(brasato) cooked slowly in Barolo wine. A fine list of Piedmont wines, too. Service is a little slow, but the value for money is well worth the detour.

Ideal to eat a good pizza without breaking the bank. The place is unpretentious, with a large vaulted room overlooking ancient stone arches. The locals are not mistaken and come here to order their favourite pizzas. The mozzarella is particularly exceptional, the thin and crispy dough is tasty and the pizza with Tyrolean speck and a beautiful ball of burrata is a pure wonder. Also some very hearty pasta dishes, but really pizzas are a must. Fast and friendly service.

A trattoria in the historic center where excellent Trentino specialties are served at a good price. Try the surprising deer and black truffle risotto and the tasty sprangolapreti (Trentino gnocchi). Good local wines, very friendly service and a nice atmosphere in the evening. The setting is chic and elegant inside with nice antique armchairs. You can also opt for the terrace on the street. An elegant address for an exceptional regional gastronomic journey, as this table is awarded one Michelin star. Culinary acrobatics in the high mountains, something to tempt you. Smoked charcuterie and mountain cheeses are in the spotlight, as are typical seasonal dishes twisted with exotic and Mediterranean ingredients. You won't get bored with the Dolomites tasting menu. It is expensive, but worth the taste discovery. Great selection of Italian wines (more than 900 labels).

Trentino's gastronomy is in the spotlight in this very good restaurant, and so is the wine! A good reason to combine each dish with a glass designed to match the flavours. Smoked trout with apple salad, pumpkin gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce or grilled local meats can be accompanied by a good local white wine, organic if possible. In the historic center, this inn-restaurant, housed in a pretty little 1930s villa, is one of the region's most renowned addresses. The chef offers regional dishes that reflect the quality principles of the Slow Food label. The cuisine is based on the market and the seasons, using the freshest produce, but with small portions. The eight rooms at the Villa Myosotis inn, each named after Snow White and each of the Seven Dwarfs, are cosy and comfortable.

This is surely the restaurant with the best view in Turin! Monte dei Cappuccini is located on the hill behind the church of the same name. From its terrace, the panorama embraces the Po and the entire city surrounded by the Alps. What a marvel! On summer evenings, it's a truly magnificent setting! The cuisine is of course Piedmontese-inspired, traditional and, what's more, complies with the Slow Food charter. Pasta and desserts are particularly tasty!

Germanic, authentic and very welcoming atmosphere in this restaurant, whose German name Weißes Rössl is used much more often than Italian. The historic inn can be identified by its painted façade, which can be recognized from afar. The restaurant offers excellent regional specialties in a stylish setting: pork tenderloin with mushrooms, trout in white wine, speck and of course apple strudel. If you have to choose a good address for a regular canteen, this is it, for its prices as modest as its dishes are generous.

Unquestionably one of the best restaurants in the city. Since the ^16th century, the osteria Le Due Spade has been catering to the locals and travelers in Trento, that's for sure! Today, the osteria is a gourmet restaurant that has kept its ^17th century architecture, with a traditional tavern atmosphere, except that it offers creative and high quality regional cuisine. The dishes are declined on the mountain and sea side, with original seafood platters and tasty desserts. Reservations are essential because the osteria is very popular.

In the minimal and chic universe of Armani, a Japanese restaurant could not miss… In the heart of the Quadrilatera de la Mode, in the concept store of the Milanese designer, it is the ideal place for a sushi break (but also tempura, sashimi and bento) after a day of shopping. Stop on the ground floor and enjoy a drink at the «designissime» bar-lounge. 

Located in a wooden house, between the barn and the period chalet, with a view of the mountains, this warm and friendly gastronomic restaurant revisits traditional dishes with talent and know-how, respecting regional products with a lot of creativity. You dine here in a chalet setting but with white tablecloths and a fireplace. A couple is in charge: Mr. in the dining room and Mrs. in the kitchen. We loved the original guinea fowl with kale, pistachio and black truffle, to be damned!

Situated on the shores of Lake Como, in a quiet area on this small lake island, this restaurant is a little bit special.... At La Locanda, only one menu is served, the same one since 1947, the opening date of the restaurant. A change of scenery is guaranteed. The menu includes wine, service and all taxes. It starts with a tomato salad and various raw vegetables accompanied by a glass of wine. Then, grilled salmon and chicken before cheese and dessert: fruit and cream. Not to be missed.

Following the successful opening of its first slow fast-food restaurant in Rivoli, M**BUN has opened two locations in downtown Turin. The brand offers visitors the chance to discover traditional, homemade dishes. The original spirit of the Scaglia farmhouse is evident in the recipes and menus, which use high-quality, locally sourced produce. Conveniently located just a 10-minute walk from Piazza Castello, this M**BUN is the ideal place to recharge your batteries (the portions are hearty) while visiting the city.

This unpretentious restaurant located 15 minutes walk from the center is mostly frequented by the local youth. It offers everything on the slate in Italian, so freshness is guaranteed. A seasonal menu, therefore, with a variety of appetizing pastas, but always with a vegan option each day, such as delicious pasta with broccoli, cashew nuts and pesto, as well as regional dishes, gourmet burgers concocted with local ingredients. But most of all, you come here to have a drink. Very good atmosphere on weekends in the evening, terrace outside.

Boasting a terrace overlooking the mountains, the little inn, which also has four rooms, has been in existence since 1998. The atmosphere is family-friendly, the place is simple and offers local cuisine and pizzas. The menu is rounded off by a few reminders of the seaside(spada affumicato con olio e limone, cozze alla marinara, tagliere del Feudatario, tagliolini alla crema di noce, minestrone di verdura con brugarelli...). A tasting of home-produced extra-virgin olive oil is a must. Free private parking.

A modern restaurant and design bar. Good atmosphere, breakfast cappuccino and morning brioch, evening cocktails when the atmosphere is animated, passing through the pasta plates and especially raw ham, some of which are refined for 16 or 24 months, other smoked fire. A real specialty that differentiates it from its neighbors.

If you are looking for authenticity it is by the Rasiga that you will need to pass. A traditional wooden chalet, once a sawmill, which offers a fixed menu at fixed prices. Under your eyes, dildo défilent of cold meats, soup of barley, inescapable pizzoccheri, stuffed pasta, deer civet, pork chops and its potatoes in the oven and a variety of desserts, from pie to apple strudel, cheese and final coffee. 35 €, but really well spent!

Set back from the seaside without yet being totally inland, the Da Delio restaurant is as much a must-see as the Château de la Comtesse, which dominates this charming, atypical little village. The chef offers local cuisine in the form of grilled meats cooked over olive wood. The dining room offers a beautiful view over the verdant valley, while the terrace is at the foot of the carrugio. Just a few of the dishes on offer: hot artichoke and potato pie, cured ham with artichokes in Perinaldo oil... Delicious!

Located on a pretty plot near the church, with a large terrace, the Trattoria offers regional and family dishes at a soft price.

If you go by the small medieval village of Isolabona during your Ligurian trip, here is a compulsory gourmet restaurant. Ristorante Da Bruno is a tribute to good Italian cuisine and offers recipes from the country and Piemont. The setting shows much taste with beautiful tables and pretty tablecloth in a slightly rustic room with stone walls. Mauro, the Chef, likes to work with fresh pastas and offers a wide range of flavours: we come here for his famous tagliatelles with ceps, his raviolis bolognaise and gnocchis with gorgonzola. Meats are also a specialty in particular the excellent (beef) "tagliata di manzo" served with oven-baked potatoes. Try also the delicious roasted rack of lamb. The antipasti are also as delicious like the bagna caoda, the Piemont fritto misto or the Piemont gran bollito. The plates are tasty and generous. Add to this a charming welcome and in French! As for the bill, it remains light whether you choose dishes from the menu or if you go for one of the very copious menus. An exceptional value for money!

The offer of this bottega near Via Mazzini is overflowing with typical Gladiators dishes: antipasto con gorgonzola, lardo, salumi e polenta; the risotto all'Amarone; lasagnette IOC coi; bigolis in duck sauce, caval pastissada; bollito con la pearà; fasoi imbogonai; The brasato all'Amarone… We could continue the list but we don't want to spoil you to discover the map of this restaurant that has existed in Verona since 1890. And the atmosphere is really very nice, the good helping wine… Because the wine list is not in rest. 1 500 Italian wine labels and the region. Possibility of buying bottles to take.

Don't be discouraged by the rustic appearance of Piedigrotta. In spite of appearances, here we eat the best pizza in town. The Neapolitan managers brought their recipes and ingredients to this alley in the centre of Varese. The buffalo mozzarella is well melted and the dough is tender and crunchy as it should be. Moreover, the presentation is original, with each pizza accompanied by a small glass of sauce placed in the middle. The youth of Varese, fond of "good and cheap" addresses, has made it one of its favourite haunts

More than a café, this restaurant is one of the best restaurants in La Thuile. On the menu you will find traditional dishes revisited in contemporary culinary creations that are really successful. The plates are beautifully presented. On the menu you can taste original Valle d'Aostan antipasti and the unavoidable fresh homemade pasta accompanied by truffles in shavings, the speciality of the house. There are also gourmet desserts made with virtuosity and a wide choice of carefully selected local wines.

This restaurant is an old railwaymen's canteen, a meeting place for employees of the nearby Stazione Centrale. Today, it serves tasty cuisine based on the culinary traditions of various Italian regions, such as spaghetti with sardines or goose in prune sauce. Special mention goes to the cheeses and charcuterie. The address is also famous for its Art Nouveau setting, in particular the Salle Liberty, a large function room that hosts monthly tango evenings.

Opened since 1972, Last Tango is not yet in his last dance. Its mountain-style room does not have a cachet with its apparent beams and its chimney fire. Many people are here to taste good, very tender meat; special mention for saignantes beef ribs, viande meat and the Burgundian fondue. Excellent plateau of alpine cheese and a beautiful map of wines that bring to the honour of small traditional producers in Piedmont.

5 km southwest of Varese, here is an address that should not be missed if you have a vehicle. Not far from the lake, this beautiful 1928 th century building has been in operation since, when Annetta (the grandmother) served local cuisine for passers-by. Since then, the service, the frame and the table have been refined thanks to the good care of the family, without losing the taste of authentic flavours. A romantic and charming setting to taste regional specialities, meticulously revisited.

An address at the end of the world, for a gourmet stopover and more if the budget allows. A cosy chalet, recently restored, in its mountain setting, managed by the Mussner family for over 40 years. A tasty cuisine where you can discover traditional recipes: charcuterie, marinated game, ravioli stuffed with boletus. All accompanied by the best wines. Also offers luxurious rooms with a superb view. If the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner in a certain time slot, the café is open all day.

A small, hidden restaurant on the island's side of the island, where you can enjoy simple and chichi cuisine, polenta mushrooms, lake fish and a wide choice of pizzas. Good service and good price. In the evening, the restaurant offers free boat transport.
