Bordering the river Etel, this small rural community is a real inland sea dotted with islets and populated by fish. A number of protected species of birds can also be observed here, such as the tadornes de Belon (small white and black ducks with a red beak). Belz also has a beautiful historical heritage with numerous dolmens and menhirs. Moreover, one still wonders about the origin of Belz and the hypotheses are numerous. One of them evokes the fact that it was perhaps a temple dedicated to Belenus (Celtic god) and then a sacred place dedicated to the worship of the snake. What is known is that Belz was prosperous in the Middle Ages thanks to agriculture and fishing. Moreover, on this subject, the port of Saint-Cado sheltered in the 17th century hundreds of sardine boats.
