Stosswihr is one of the oldest villages in the Munster valley. Its origins date back to 634, when Scottish monks built an abbey church and monastery at Schweinsbach. From 1287 to the French Revolution, Stosswihr was part of the Communauté du Val et de la Ville de Munster. Badly damaged during the First World War, the village was largely rebuilt. While you're here, take note of the unusual oil mill dating from 1727 and the Schweinsbach chapel (1891). Stosswihr is a good starting point for hikes via the Sentier des Roches and the Grotte du Roi Dagobert.
