This rural commune has the peculiarity of not having a real town. It is made up of "street hamlets", les Voriots (mill), les Certaux, Forge, while the town hall and the village hall remain rather isolated. Surrounded by historic passes, notably the Col des Baudots, crossed by the Central European Atlantic Road linking Chalon to Montceau-les-Mines, the commune has not undergone any particular development, leaving all its place to livestock farming. However, coal outcrops at the place known as La Forge gave hope for an industrial development of the territory. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on one's point of view), four wells dug around 1810 only revealed a thin layer of 50 cm that could not be exploited.
