Located on the left bank of the Ill river, the village of Oberentzen originally comprised the two communes of Entzen. Numerous finds at the Giessen site show that the land has been occupied since prehistoric times. At the end of the 17th century, the village was attached to the Ensisheim bailliage and given to the intendant de La Grange. In the 17th century, it passed into the hands of the Kinglin family, who were already lords of Oberhergheim. This same family owned, among other properties, a townhouse in Strasbourg that is now the Palais de la Préfecture. A Rabiny organ, built by Louis Dubois and renovated by Callinet, is one of the treasures of the parish dedicated to Saint Nicolas.
