Niederhergheim was born from the village of Hergheim in 1276 in two villages: . and Niederhergheim. Until the th century, the village belongs to the Annegisvilla abbey. It is then successively owned by several lords: The Habsbourg, the Hattstatt… His church housed tombstones of the Schauenbourg family, lords of the village of 1589 to the Revolution. A castle was mentioned in 1303, reported in ruins in 1573 and razed in 1806.
