Far from the crowd of the old city of Dubrovnik, this small village of less than 1,000 inhabitants seduces by its calm. Located on the Peljesac peninsula, Trpanj with its red roofs and white walls invites you to swim. Trpanj comes from the verb trpjeti which means "to suffer". According to an explanation found on the site of the Trpanj tourist office, the inhabitants of this locality would have suffered because nature would not have been generous enough towards them, the land not being fertile enough, too arid and covered with rocks.
