In many ways, Cluny is a popular tourist destination. Situated at the heart of the European Cluniac network, at the center of a Pays d'Art et d'Histoire, Cluny has been awarded several labels and distinctions: Grand itinéraire culturel du Conseil de l'Europe, Patrimoine européen.With just 4,800 inhabitants, this small town is not known for its size, but for its architectural and cultural grandeur. With an outstanding heritage (abbey church, medieval house, museum, Hôtel-Dieu and National Stud - the only one in Burgundy), the inhabitants are proud to welcome over 70,000 visitors every year. A wide range of hotels and accommodation options allow visitors to take the time to discover the town and its region. Gastronomy is not left out, with a large number of restaurants offering cuisine in keeping with Burgundy's specialties.A city of knowledge, Cluny is also home to the École Nationale des Arts et Métiers, which has been housed in the abbey since 1901. This renowned school has a long tradition of teaching and research. In terms of culture, Cluny is a superb setting for the "Grandes Heures de Cluny" festival, which features lyrical performances and local wine tastings, as well as a jazz festival that has been running for over 25 years. There are many ways to enjoy Cluny: on foot along the signposted footpaths, by bike on the "voie verte" or on horseback.
