It is very pleasant to walk along the pedestrian streets that wind between the stone houses and the imperious castle that stands on top of the hill. The town of Gesualdo has all the characteristics of historical centres built on elevations; it is no coincidence that in the 1980s the Faculty of Architecture of Naples used the site for an in-depth study of urban structures built on eminences! The town had a golden age between the 15th and 16th centuries when the castle was home to Carlo Gesualdo, who redesigned the premises to accommodate a refined court.
