This small medieval centre of less than 3,000 inhabitants has given its name to one of Italy's greatest red wines, which has had a DOCG designation since 1970. It is, in fact, at the heart of a region of vineyards and olive groves that in some ways is reminiscent of Tuscany. The villages seem to cling to their hilltops, as if to gallantly make way for the vines that spread out in rows or pergolas on the slopes. Sant'Angelo all'Esca, Castelvetere sul Calore, Luogosano... These peaceful flowery villages, with belvederes revealing beautiful views, are pleasant stops on bucolic walks... and wine and food tasting!
