Arbel is located about 8 km west of the city centre of Tiberias, on the heights of Mount Arbel. This moshav was built in 1950 on the lands of the ancient Arab village of Hittin (in the ruins farther west), famous for the battle of Hattin (1187) during which Saladin allah a humiliating defeat to the Crusaders instead of "The Horns of Hattin". Arbel houses an ancient synagogue dating from the th century and is crossed by the Jesus Trail.
