Bazaar, Capernaüm or Kefar Nahum is one of the main places in the life of Christ in Galilee. At the time, it was a vibrant city of 1 500 people, with merchants, fishermen and a Roman garrison, whose tax collector was the evangelist of the future Matthieu. Today, the name of Bazaar, a city cursed by Christ for rejecting His word, has become synonymous with great disorder.Founded in the second century BC, the city was severely damaged by an earthquake in 746, before being rebuilt and gradually abandoned in the following centuries. The site was rediscovered in 1838 by an American archaeologist, Edward Robinson. Since then, many excavations have taken place, notably by the Franciscans and the Greek Orthodox Church.
