The entire reserve is home to a singular flora and fauna, and bird-watching enthusiasts will also find much to enjoy here. Pumas, jaguars, tapirs, crocodiles, parrots, toucans and many other species make their home here. Few humans have settled in the area, apart from a few Mennonite communities around Barton Creek, and a concentration of population around the Douglas D Silva station. There are a number of hotels within the reserve, where you can get away from it all for a few days and discover its natural wonders.
