Barton Creek is a small, traditional Mennonite community with farms scattered across the hills. It is actually made up of two communities of different origins. Upper Barton Creek is occupied by Mennonites originally from Pennsylvania, while Lower Barton Creek was created by a group arriving from Shipyard, Belize. The main attraction is the Barton Creek Cave, which contains remnants of Mayan ceremonies and can be explored from the comfort of a canoe. The local trails are frequented by numerous horse-drawn carriages, so don't be surprised if you come across one.
