Le Bonhomme owes its name to Saint Déodat, nicknamed the "good man" in the 600s. The pass of the same name leads to Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, and is the gateway to the winter sports resorts of Lac Blanc and Les Bagenelles. In spring, when farmers have not yet mowed their meadows, the area is ideal for hiking. The commune is dominated to the northeast by the Brézouard massif (1,229 m) and to the south by the Tête des Faux peak (1,224 m), where many relics of the Great War lie. Le Bonhomme is a village where you'll find great local produce.
