Placed under the aegis of the Hohenstauffen family in the 11th century, the village took the name of La Poutroye around 1348. At the heart of a World War I battlefield, Lapoutroie has retained very little of the after-effects of these confrontations, and nature has reclaimed its rights. Nestled in the heart of vast fir forests, protected by the first slopes of the Vosges mountains, this emblematic village of the Welche region has a few surprises in store for those brave enough to climb up to it. With its unique panoramic views, cheese dairies and artisanal farms, brandies and a country fair on July 14, it would be a mistake not to make a stop here!
