Vân Long Nature Reserve, the largest submerged nature reserve in northern Vietnam, covers more than 3,000 hectares. The site is nicknamed "the bay without waves" to evoke the beauty of this aquatic landscape where the water reflects clouds and karst cliffs. The reserve is home to a number of animal and plant species, many of which are in danger of extinction. The star of the reserve? The Delacour's langur, a black monkey with white breeches that has been on the list of the 25 most endangered primate species in the world since 2000. The species only exists in the north of Vietnam and several dozen individuals have taken up residence in Vân Long.
