The Shirvan Reserve covers an area of 70,000 ha, mainly for the protection of more than 200 species of birds and Caucasian gazelles, of which very few remain. There are also some nice beaches, but they are difficult to access. Finally, at Cape Bandovan, divers can explore the ruins of a city that was swallowed up by the rising Caspian Sea. If you bring a 4x4 or a rental car to visit the reserve, it will be your only chance to see gazelles, as you leave the tracks.
