Morey-Saint-Denis is situated between two prestigious names that have often overshadowed its wines: Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin. Its territory occupies a small area and its productions are less voluminous than those of its neighbours. It nevertheless has six exceptional Grands Crus: les Bonnes-Mares, les Quatre-Clos, le Clos-Saint-Denis, le Clos-de-la-Roche, le Clos-de-Tart and le Clos-des-Lambrays. The village is charming and there are some beautiful buildings: a house of the Templars, an old common oven that has become a bakery, an interesting turret house from the 16th century. The present church dates from the beginning of the 18th century. In 1925, the village receives a distinguished guest: the Sultan of Morocco, great-grandfather of the current king, is welcomed at the home of Consul Guiot, whose house is now the cellar of Dionysus. Morey is also the birthplace of Riepp, the organ builder of the Saint-Benigne Cathedral in Dijon. Every year in March (for almost 25 years!) the weekend of taste takes place there. It is an opportunity to taste a multitude of regional products. The event is organised at the Cellier de Dionysos where about thirty artisans offer you to taste their productions. Breads, wines and cheeses are in the spotlight!
