It is an interesting archaeological site located on the ruins of the ancient fishing village, Kaunolu, where King Kamehameha I liked to come and rest. Not to be missed: the well-preserved remains of an important heiau (temple) dedicated to the god of fishing, Kuula. Numerous petroglyphs can be seen in the village, mostly depicting human or animal forms in a geometric style Transportation. 4WD required. Follow Kaumalapau Rd from Lanai City past the airport to the Kapiili trail. Continue to a high intersection and take the right road to the ocean
