Kailua is the southernmost town on the east coast, known as the "windward" (it is the windiest). It is a very nice seaside town with good restaurants and beautiful beaches, but accommodation is a bit scarce except for a few Bed & Breakfasts. It is a rather residential city and much less touristic than Honolulu. It is not by chance that Barack Obama, who was born on O'ahu, chose Kailua as his second home. The beaches are endless and there is no shortage of water sports, you can easily spend the day there. Most of the activities can be booked on the internet because many of them do not have a store.
