The coastline of Oahu's southeastern tip is largely part of the Koko Head Regional Nature Park. It is to their great preservation that beaches like Hanauma Bay owe their exceptional beauty. A protected area (and Barack Obama's favorite beach), its access is controlled but ideal for snorkeling. Two headlands dominate the park: Koko Head (196 m) and Koko Crater (368 m), which are two ancient volcanic cones. The latter is known for its hike to the top on an old railroad almost vertically, sensations guaranteed. The south-east point is certainly one of the most beautiful spots of the island.
