Laie is primarily a residential town, not very touristy but very Mormon. Expect to be approached by Mormons who are very motivated to convert you... Especially if you venture to the Mormon temple! However, the building is worth a visit, overhanging a huge palm tree avenue, it is worthy of a Hollywood Boulevard palace. The city is especially famous for the Polynesian Cultural Center, also run by the Mormons, and for its beautiful beaches. A supermarket, a few fast-food restaurants and a gas station allow you to fill up before continuing on the wilder north coast
