Waianae (also called Leeward) is a small town without much interest but the beaches around are beautiful. There is a small supermarket, two or three stores and restaurants and an ATM. Waianae also has a small harbor from which several excursions leave, in search of dolphins, to learn how to dive or to reach beautiful snorkeling spots. In season, whale watching trips are also available from the port. Finally, for hikers, Waianae is the gateway to the popular Pu'U'Ohulu Kai (Pink Pillbox) hike, a perfect spot to watch the sun set over the sea.
