Wahiawa is a small residential town in the central plateau without interest. Only a visit to its botanical garden or to the Dole Plantation will take you there. The latter, although a bit overrated and very American, welcomes several million visitors each year eager to discover the fruit that has shaped the island's landscape. From Wahiawa to Haleiwa the road going north is indeed lined with pineapple plantations. There are many varieties of pineapples, some of which can be seen at Dole Plantation, ranging from yellow to red to blue-green. There are truck-bars in front of the plantation where you can have a snack.
