In the Middle Ages, the Pays-d'Enhaut and the tower of Oex (built in the 11th century) belonged to the county of Gruyère. In 1555, the Pays-d'Enhaut became part of Bern and the Reformation. In 1803, it became a district of the canton of Vaud. Worth seeing is the church, on a mound with its bell tower, whose roof with raised edges evokes Savoyard hats. The town is famous for its festival of balloonists who come in great numbers every year to light up the sky with their multicoloured balloons. Bertrand Piccard, a local boy, is a big part of this. The Balloon Space allows you to discover this little known universe with exhibitions, animations and a 3D cinema.
