The first non-stop round-the-world balloon flight started in 1999 from Château-d'Œx. Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jone, who made this crazy challenge on board the Breitling Orbiter 3, inspired the creation of this museum in the former town hall. It includes a reception area, a shop and a partly multimedia exhibition presenting the history of the hot-air balloon. Invention, technology, adventure: everything has been done to recreate the world of balloonists. The Breitling Orbiter 1 capsule can be seen near the balloon take-off area.
