Kamala, once a quiet fishing village, has become a bustling, lively town with a large Muslim community. Numerous hotels and guesthouses have opened their doors, but all have retained the excellent value for money and service typical of Thailand. Kamala Bay stretches over 3 km with its turquoise waters and white sand. Numerous small beach restaurants and sunbeds with umbrellas are available all along the way. Just beyond, to the north of Kamala, is the pretty little Laem Singh Beach, overhung by rocks and accessible on foot from the roadside parking lot.
