Rawai's beaches are rather narrow and silted-up: nothing to really get excited about! On the other hand, the site is very calm and offers a lovely panorama, with several boats and longtail boats moored there. Thais come here at the end of the day to stroll and dine. There's also a village of the Chao Leh community, sea gypsies who once lived nomadically on the Andaman Sea. Hotels are few and far between. Laem Kha is the cape between Chalong Bay, further north, and Rawai Beach. There are several fine restaurants and diving schools on site.
