Domodossola is a pleasant town of just under 20,000 inhabitants, with a charming old pedestrian-only historic center. Just stroll through the narrow streets to admire the ancient buildings and stop off at the market square, which looks like an idyllic postcard. Its patron saints Gervasio and Protasio are celebrated every year on June 19. But the town's main attraction is, of course, its Sacri Monti, listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 2003, along with the 8 other Sacri Monti in Piedmont and Lombardy. This is the northernmost of the Sacri Monti, just ten kilometers from the Swiss border.
