Small fishing village located between the beautiful beach of Erchie and Vietri sul Mare. Cetara was part of the Duchy of Amalfi, of which it was the eastern limit. Before that, at the end of the 9th century, it was also a bastion of the Saracens. Its name comes from the Latin cetaria, which means "fishing net" or "tuna". The fish tradition is still alive and well and is still one of the specialities of the village: the anchovies of Cetara are famous and are the basis of the colatura di alici, an oil made from matured and pressed anchovies. Take a walk around the port and admire the pretty beach with its ancient watchtower from the Angevin period.
