Located in the middle of the touristy east coast, Kapaa, with about 10,000 inhabitants is a pretty residential town and is certainly one of the most charming in Hawaii. The wooden houses with their colorful facades give the town a Wild West feel. It is very pleasant to stroll around and has many good restaurants and stores. Another plus: a bicycle path has been laid out along the seafront, ideal for exploring the area.
