The remains of this fort tell us that Hawaii has almost been Russian! Certainly, the adventure lasted only from 1815 to 1817, but it took little for the hula dancers to speak a different language. It was Kamehameha I who finally chased the Russians out of the archipelago. Built as a star, with volcanic stones, this fort was called "Elizabeth" in tribute to the wife of Tsar Alexander I.Brochures tell the amazing story of this fort, one of which can visit the few ruins freely.
