Day 1: First day in paradise...

Steps: Lihue

Arrival at Lihue Airport the day before or the very morning. It is advisable to get a hotel in Lihue to spend a day on the surrounding beaches. In the morning, visit the Kauai Museum and the Grove Farm Homestead Museum. At noon, go to Lihue port, the Nawiliwili Harbor, and bathe in Kalapaki Beach. Choose one of the port's restaurants for lunch and enjoy a magnificent sea view. In the afternoon, visit the Kilohana Plantation (former house of a sugar plantation owner) and then go to the Wailua Falls. In the evening, dine and enjoy a drink at the port of Lihue because nightlife is lively there.

Day 2: The must-go Waimea Canyon.

Steps: Waimea Canyon State Park

Leave early in the morning to travel to the Waimea Canyon (1h). The Waimea Canyon is a must in Kauai! With its rocky mountains with its unreal landforms, it was nicknamed the Grand canyon of the Pacific. Stop at the two most beautiful view points on the canyon: Waimea Lookout and Puu Hina Hina Lookout. Complete this approach with a hike in the canyon (from 1 hour and a half to 3 hours according to its form). Plan a picnic

Day 3: Na Pali Coast or Kokee forest.

Steps: Na Pali Coast, Kokee State Park, Hanapepe

The green and sharp mountains of the sublime Na Pali are not accessible by road. The three ways to get there are: by foot, by sea or by air. If you choose to hike, you have to spend the whole day (don't go there if it rained the day before at the risk of a fatal fall due to slippery terrain). This is the same case if you go there aboard a kayak or boat. Only the helicopter overflight takes only one hour, but it would be a pity to be satisfied with. Hiking starts on the north coast but all guided excursions depart from Waimea or Hanapepe. If you choose the hiking option, take advantage of the day to visit the forest and its many trails.

Day 4: Poipu Beach and Wailua State Park.

Steps: Wailua State Park, Kapaa, Poipu

Spend the day on the fine sandy beaches of the luxurious beach resort Poipu to relax. Walk on Maha'ulepu Trail and do a picnic on its wild beach. Drive towards Kapaa and stop at Opaekaa Falls and Lydgate Beach.

MAHA'ULEPU HERITAGE TRAIL

Day 5: The north coast from Hanalei to Haena.

Steps: Hanalei, Haena

In the morning, swimming on the different beaches of Hanalei, with, why not, an initiation to surfing or windsurfing. In the afternoon, take Highway 56 towards the west to reach Haena where the road ends. Swim and sunbathe on the beautiful beaches around Haena. Return to Hanalei in the early evening.

Day 6: Hiking in Na Pali Coast

Steps: Kilauea, Na Pali Coast

Na Pali Coast. Those who choose to hike can spend the whole day with it. Those who just want to do a part of it can spend the afternoon snorkelling on Anini Beach.

Day 7: A last little kayak tour

Steps: Lihue, Wailua State Park

Return to Lihue to take the plane by making a kayak stopover on the Wailua river and visiting Fern Grotto.
